Excellence in Marketing & Business Development
This award recognised the most innovative, creative and inspiring business development campaign executed by a law firm or in-house legal department. Entries needed to: identify the objectives; outline campaign elements; explain how the campaign was integrated into the wider marketing and business development of the law firm or in-house legal team; describe the rollout of associated marketing activity; and quantify measurable results. This award was open to all in the legal sector.
Winner: Jackson Barrett & Gass
Jackson Barrett & Gass developed an approach to supporting house sales that succeeded in retaining old clients, attracting new ones and developing profitable relationships with local estate agents, marking them apart from their competitors.
Shortlisted: Bond Pearce LLP
Surr+ is an innovative no win, no fee recovery claims tool with a highly successful launch campaign behind it. The business development element was critical to its success. Bond Pearce believes the product remains unique in the marketplace. In two years the Surr+ team has expanded from two personnel to eight as a result of the success of the campaign.

Boyes Turner's award winning ‘Free Range Lawyers' advertising campaign, coupled with a highly successful recruitment agency partnering strategy, saw a net increase in staff of 23% in 2008 and a further increase of 15% in 2009 as the firm became one of the UK's premier destinations for lawyers outside the City.
Shortlisted: Martin Searle Solicitors
The firm's two-phase digital marketing strategy involved a search engine marketing campaign to increase web traffic and business from the web, and a multi-media digital marketing strategy to build the firm's on and offline reputation. After six months website visits were up 70%, new business from the web had doubled and fee income was up 14%. .
Shortlisted: Turner Parkinson LLP
Turner Parkinson, a Manchester-based law firm, launched a new website to promote the sale of businesses and properties in November 2008. TP Deals lists businesses and properties for sale, including insolvency sales and distressed assets. It was designed to encourage deal flow in the North West when the transactional market was in difficulty, by introducing business buyers and sellers.
